This siteThis site contains my pseudorandom notes about some stuff I am interested in. I hope there is something for you here as well. If you want to discuss something, please drop me an email (link is on the right). If you want to re-publish my material, you are welcome to do that as long as you respect my license (see bottom of the page). LinuxI use Linux since 1994. One of my home computers runs 64-bit Ubuntu 8.10. I also have an IBM T41 laptop running Debian unstable, and eeePC 900 running Debian testing. Until 2006 Linux was the one and the only operating system for me. Now I use Mac OS X a lot as well. My favourite distribution is Debian. I had an affair with Ubuntu when it just appeared. At that time I was charmed; not any more. The quality of Ubuntu software releases became unsatisfactory. I will migrate my 64-bit Ubuntu computer to Debian as soon as I will have time. Really soon now. LPC2103Recently I bought a couple of LPC2103-based development boards from Embedded Artists: so called “Christmas tree” and “LPC2103 Education Board”. LPC2103 is a microcontroller, based on ARM7TDMI-S core. It also has 32 KiB of flash memory and 8 KiB of RAM. Both boards a powered by USB and provide USB-serial interface. They also have some nice stuff like leds, 7-segment indicator, 2x16 character LCD and small buzzer. It is a great fun to play with these boards. Mac OS XIn 2006 I bought for myself an iBook G4 with 12” screen. My original motivation was to get some PowerPC-machine to play with. Surprisingly, in a few month I discovered that it became my main computer, and most tasks are moved there from my Linux box. Since that I use Mac OS X for most “desktop” activities. I really like the combination of nice user interface and the possibility to run terminal and do what I want in a Unix way. Currently I own “aluminium” 20” iMac and use it as my main computer. This text I'm typing in vim under Mac OS X. By old iBook G4 is still in use. I like Objective C language, used for programming in Mac OS X environment. I worte and released small utility called MP3Names. eeePCI own Asus eeePC 900. It runs Debian Linux, testing. I use it mostly to take with me somewhere and to use fbreader. |
